International stocks trading in New York closed mostly lower on Monday.

The S&P/BNY Mellon index of American depositary receipts were nearly flat at 143.13. The Latin American fell 1.7% to 179.42, while the emerging-markets index shed almost 1% to 278.17. The Asian index retreated 0.4% to 166.40.

The European index was the only gainer among the major indexes, up 0.6% to 138.92.

The ADRs of Petroleo Brasileiro S/A and Bilibili Inc. traded actively.

The Brazilian oil and gas company said it requalifed to be part of Dow Jones Sustainability Index World. Petroleo Brasileiro ADRs ended down 3.5%.

Video-sharing platform Bilibili's ADRs fell after one of its units reduced its stake in entertainment startup Anycolor to 3.6% from 8%. The ADRs ended 9.5% lower.
