U.S. Markets Closed, European Stocks Down Slightly

In the U.S. markets were closed.

In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 climbed 0.3% in morning trading. Continental rose 9.5% and Smith & Nephew added 6.8%. On the other hand, Pandora dropped 1.9%, and Roche Holding Part. In commodities, Brent crude fell 0.8% to $86.65 a barrel, and WTI crude fell 0.9% to $83.15 a barrel. The European benchmark price for natural gas, the Dutch futures contract TTF, was down 0.7% to EUR32.48 a megawatt hour.

The German 10-year Bund yield rose by 2 basis points to 2.584% from 2.567%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury declined by 7 basis points to 4.364% from 4.364%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.

Stocks in Asia were mixed as Japan's Nikkei 225 index climbed 0.8%, and Hong Kong's Hang Seng gained 0.2%, whereas China's benchmark Shanghai Composite dropped 0.8%.
