Rio Tinto announces that its Richards Bay Minerals (RBM) company has signed an agreement with Khangela Emoyeni Wind Farm to purchase 140 MW of wind power, reducing its annual carbon emissions by 20%.

The project, located in the Western Cape and Northern Cape provinces of South Africa, will help power RBM's operations in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal province.

In addition to this agreement, RBM has also signed a similar partnership for a solar power plant with Voltalia.

Together, these projects are expected to supply around 42% of RBM's current energy needs, while creating employment and skills development opportunities in local communities.
