Gilead Sciences : Statement on Recent Events in Washington, D.C.

Foster City, Calif., January 13, 2021 - The events that have occurred in Washington over the past week have left us all shaken and deeply concerned. The assault on Congress and efforts to undermine the lawful and peaceful transition of power were contemptible and have no place in our constitutional Republic. Gilead condemns the recent violence and attacks on our nation's laws and democratically-elected government. In light of these events, Gilead will temporarily suspend all political contributions by the Gilead Political Action Committee. This suspension will allow us time to carefully review our criteria governing PAC contributions and our contributions strategy for 2021 and beyond. This process will take into account the events of last week, specifically to ensure that our political action committee continues to operate in a manner that is consistent with our core corporate values.
