Engro Corporation Limited announced that Ahsan Zafar Syed has taken over as Chief Executive Officer of the company following the completion of Ghiyas Khan's seven-year term. With three decades of experience in operations, project management, and strategic leadership across the energy, food, and agriculture sectors, Syed brings a wealth of expertise to the role. Syed was previously serving as the Chief Executive Officer of Engro Fertilizers, where he led the company to become one of the most significant entities on the Pakistan Stock Exchange.

Under his leadership, Engro Fertilizers experienced an increase in valuation, driven by business optimization strategies such as divesting low-margin non-core operations, enhancing the market position of Engro Urea, and expanding specialty fertilizer capacity. He also introduced digital services and oversaw a major transformation at the plant site, leading to improved efficiency and capacity. Syed's contributions to Engro extend beyond fertilizers.

As the CEO of Engro Energy, he played a pivotal role in realizing the national dream of Thar coal by operating a 660 MW power project using local coal. This project has contributed to import substitution worth $1.5 billion and provides electricity to 9 million people annually. The $1.1 billion N1 plant construction, a significant milestone for Engro and one of the largest projects completed in Pakistan, was completed under Syed's guidance.
