The Paris stock market today posted its third consecutive session of declines: after -1% on Monday and -0.27% yesterday, the Paris index is down 0.46% today, to 7,260 points, at the end of a session marked by low volumes, with barely 2.6 billion euros traded since the opening.

After a good run in June, equity markets now seem to need to catch their breath until they see a little more light.

The day was marked by Jerome Powell's appearance before the House Financial Services Committee. Analysts will be sure to scrutinize his speech later this evening. On Friday, the Fed Chairman will again address the Senate.

On the foreign exchange market, the dollar, which had risen yesterday on the back of better-than-expected real estate statistics, fell back -0.3% to $1.095 against the euro.

The bond market continued its erratic movements of recent days, with the German Bund yield returning to 2.40%, while the French OAT yield eased to 2.92%.

Treasury yields, which had climbed in recent weeks, followed suit, with the 10-year note falling back to 3.73% from last week's peak of 3.84%.

In French company news, Daher, Safran and Airbus presented EcoPulse, the jointly-developed hybrid-electric propulsion aircraft demonstrator. After successfully completing initial ground tests, the demonstrator will make its first flight with hybrid-electric propulsion later this year.
