Veolia announces that it has been awarded, via its subsidiary SIDEM, a $320 million contract to design and supply key technology for the Hassyan seawater desalination plant in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

This will be the second largest desalination plant based on reverse osmosis technology in the world: it will have a capacity of 818,000 cubic meters per day (m3/d), providing a source of drinking water for two million people.

It will also be the world's largest and most energy-efficient solar-powered desalination plant. It will start operating in 2026, with a gradual ramp-up to full capacity in 2027.
