17 people, 7 nationalities - our Process Safety and Risk Assessment team is not only divers because of different origins, languages and skin colors. They have multifarious backgrounds, work in different ways and have various competences. A great benefit when it comes to their multiple tasks, such as visiting powerplants, talking about and discussing issues, technical challenges or projects, making sure that colleagues are aware of risks and helping them to come up with good plans.

'Diversity is a fact. It just is. I can't do anything to change that I am from the UK, my colleague is from China and another one from Germany. We realized that it is more about inclusion', explained Samuel Edward Norton, member of the Process Safety and Risk Assessment team. It is about avoiding someone having to face the feeling of exclusion and to respect individual comfort zones. All team members are aware of their differences and have been confident about their acceptance of one another. A big surprise came out during their last biannual face-to-face-meeting where they had a workshop to discuss the topic 'Diversity & Inclusion': An unconscious bias affected all of them and greatly impacted their judgement throughout the activity.
