(Alliance News) - Stellantis NV sales in May fell in Europe, in line with the negative trend in European market performance, where registrations fell 3.0 percent year-on-year to 912,000 units, a sharp reversal from the previous month's 13.7 percent increase.

As data from ACEA, the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association, showed Thursday, the merged giant of PSA Groupe and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles posted an 8.7 percent decline to May 2023, with market share down to 15.9 percent in May from 17.0 percent in May 2023.

Among the group's brands, Peugeot sold 13 percent fewer cars in May than in the same month a year earlier while Opel/Vauxhall posted a 7.8 percent decrease. In contrast, DS registrations fell 42 percent in May while Citroen's were up 7.6 percent.

Fiat reported a sales decline of about 13 percent in May while Jeep posted a 2.0 percent increase, Lancia/Chrysler sold 18 percent fewer cars in May while Alfa Romeo worsened sales by 14 percent.
