Scentre Group today announced that it is one of nine organisations in Australia and one of 418 globally to be included in the 2022 Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index (GEI).

The Bloomberg GEI measures gender equality across five pillars: female leadership and talent pipeline, equal pay and gender pay parity, inclusive culture, anti-sexual harassment policies and pro-women brand.

Scentre Group's 2022 GEI score of 75.88% is above the global average overall score of 71%. It is also above the REIT industry score of 68.52% (24 organisations).

Scentre Group Chief Executive Officer Peter Allen said he was pleased the company's ongoing focus on diversity, equity and inclusion had been recognised globally through the index, contributing to greater investor understanding of our approach.

'I'm encouraged our score was above the global average and well above the REIT industry score. Our diversity, equity and inclusion strategy is fundamental to the way we operate as a responsible, sustainable business. It's part of the Scentre Group culture and built into our DNA,' Mr Allen said.

'Inclusion in the index again demonstrates the consistency of our approach and the progress we're making to achieve gender equity across our business and to meet our 40:40:20 goal at all workplace levels by 2025.

'In 2021, we implemented a range of initiatives to improve our gender representation through our approach to recruitment, development and policies. This included piloting an Emerging Female Leadership program.

'We understand that in creating and fostering a safe, inclusive and respectful workplace, we can be the place where talent can thrive. It helps us to maintain strong and positive employee engagement and retention and improve our productivity and performance as a business. It's also critical in an environment where the competition for talent is fierce.

'We remain committed to gender equity in the workplace and transparency in our reporting and we will maintain momentum on our initiatives throughout 2022.'

Chairman of Bloomberg and Founding Chairman of the U.S. 30% Club, Peter T. Grauer said: 'We are proud to recognise Scentre Group and the other 417 companies included in the 2022 GEI for their commitment to transparency and setting a new standard in gender-related data reporting.'

'Even though the threshold for inclusion in the GEI has risen, the member list continues to grow. This is a testament that more companies are working to improve upon their gender-related metrics, fostering more opportunity for diverse talent to succeed in their organisations.'
