Origin Energy : brings lower gas bills to the west

A leading Australian energy retailer with over 4 million customer accounts, Origin is launching into Perth with the region's most competitive natural gas offer of 35 per cent off Origin's usage charges for customers who pay via direct debit and receive their bills via email.

'Origin is excited to be expanding our presence in WA to support the local community with lower gas bills and a great range of products and services,' said Duncan Permezel, General Manager Retail Sales, Origin.

'For customers who haven't reviewed their gas bill for a couple of years, chances are they're paying more than they need. With one quick phone call to Origin or a few minutes online, an average household could save around $210 a year on their natural gas bill.'

Origin already sells LPG in several WA locations and has recently started selling solar and batteries to homes and businesses in Perth.

One of the first customers to make the switch to Origin natural gas is the Humphreys family from Sorrento. With a household of four kids and two adults, they use natural gas in their home for heating, cooking and hot water.

'I haven't reviewed my natural gas plan for a couple of years, and in the past have been frustrated by the lack of choice,' says Marcus Humphreys.

'Switching to Origin is going to help my family save on our gas bill, meaning we will be able to switch on the gas heating in winter without having to worry as much about the impact on our hip pocket. And it means we can put the savings towards other household expense.'

Customers will be able to manage their natural gas account 24/7 online or via Origin's mobile app (iOS only), and they can speak to Origin's Australian-based call centre agents from 7.00am until 7.00pm (AWST) Monday to Friday and 8.00am until 3.00pm (AWST) on Saturdays.

In addition to Origin Maximiser which provides customers with a 35 per cent discount on Origin's usage charges, Origin has a range of natural gas offers for customers depending on their needs. This includes Origin's Bill Saver which is the only natural gas plan in Perth that provides a discount on both usage and supply for up to two years, and Origin Saver which provides a 33 per cent discount off Origin's usage charges for customers who pay on time.
