In 2022, the International Sami Film Institute (ISFI) and Netflix entered a partnership to support and further develop Sámi voices in the Nordic region as part of Netflix Fund for Creative Equity. The partnership, which has resulted in successful training programs for upcoming Sami scriptwriters, line producers, production managers, and assistant directors, will now be continued with a producers' program.

ISFI and Netflix, in collaboration with training partner EAVE, are now looking for emerging and mid-career producers currently developing documentary, feature, or short film projects to join the upcoming program to advance their careers in the film industry.

- We are thrilled to build upon our partnership with Netflix and introduce the Sámi Producers Lab. This program provides emerging Sámi producers with a unique platform to develop their skills and learn from film industry professionals. It is a remarkable opportunity for Sámi filmmakers to acquire essential skills in film production while also focusing on their current film project, says Managing Director Anne Lajla Utsi at the International Sami Film Institute.

The Sámi Producers Lab will offer masterclasses and individual consulting on projects in documentary and fiction film development, led by a distinguished lineup of experienced directors and producers. The program, which starts in October 2024, will take place both in Guovdageaidnu, Norway/Sápmi, and as online sessions during six months.

- At Netflix, we want to invest not only in great series and films, but also in new voices in the film and tv industry. We are excited to extend our partnership with the International Sámi Film Institute, which will further support the development of new talent in the region, says Jenny Stjernströmer Björk, VP of Content in the Nordics.

About The Sámi Producers Lab will enhance your abilities in film development, financing, budgeting, funding applications and reports, distribution planning, and business strategy. The workshop will be using the successful EAVE methodology with group work, plenary sessions and individual consultations, focusing on real projects to produce tangible outcomes and have concrete case studies.
