Naturgy Energy Group SA on Friday reported higher earnings and sales for the first nine months of the year, which the company said reflected the retroactive effects of an amendment to gas sales agreements with Algerian company Sonatrach.

The Spanish energy company posted net profit of 1.06 billion euros ($1.08 billion) for the period, up from EUR777 million in the same period of 2021. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization rose to EUR3.50 billion from EUR2.56 billion. Sales were EUR27.01 billion, up from EUR14.56 billion.

The company approved a second interim dividend for the year of EUR0.40 a share. Until the end of the year, it expects Ebitda of about EUR4.8 billion and a net debt position similar to that of 2021.
