Marubeni Corporation (hereinafter, "Marubeni") is pleased to announce that Marubeni has signed a Memorandum of Understanding regarding a strategic alliance (hereinafter, "MOU") with SMRT Road Holdings Group (hereinafter, "Strides"), which is a business arm of SMRT Corporation (hereinafter, "SMRT") to operate and promote the decarbonization of transportation in ASEAN and Japan by providing a one-stop end-to-end electric Mobility as a Service ("eMaaS") business. Particularly, Marubeni and Strides will provide digital EV leasing to their customers and explore new services including on-demand transportation and autonomous driving technology.
Through this MOU, Marubeni and Strides will jointly plan to establish an EV fleet management business and an eMaaS business to accelerate the spread of commercial EVs in ASEAN, as well as a business that responds to diverse mobility needs centered on these businesses.
Marubeni has developed an automobile sales finance business, an automobile maintenances business, an EV charger sales business and even a variety of new mobility businesses in ASEAN.
Going forward, Marubeni will introduce and promote commercial EV vehicles, solve problems related to EVs, and work on an eMaaS business that utilizes EVs to further spread the use of EVs.
*This service provides all actions to organize and coordinate EV procurement, maintenance, repair, and disposal, including financing and leasing service for vehicles. Furthermore, monitoring fleet activities makes it possible to continuously improve efficiencies and reducing costs, as well as make decisions about proper asset management, dispatch and routing, and vehicle acquisition and disposal.
