Flight schedule will be expanded in 2014 summer timetable

From next summer, Lufthansa customers will be able to reach two further attractive destinations, non-stop. Starting on 3 April 2014, Lufthansa will operate flights from Munich to Mexico City, and on 5 June it will launch its new service to Toronto. "We are delighted to be able to offer our passengers new destinations on the American continent. From an economic point of view, in particular, both Mexico and Toronto are becoming increasingly important for the German market," says Thomas Klühr, Member of the Lufthansa German Airlines Board responsible for Finance and the Munich hub.

Mexico City, with a population of over 23 million, is one of the largest metropolitan areas in the world. It is the political, economic, social and cultural heart of the country as well as its largest transportation hub. Its famous museums and monuments also make it an interesting destination for leisure travellers. The city offers visitors a wide range of cultural activities, and has an internationally renowned theatre scene. In future, Lufthansa will serve Mexico City five times a week from Munich, in addition to the daily flight from Frankfurt. The new route will be operated under flight number LH 520 with an Airbus A340-600 with 306 seats.

Toronto is Canada's largest commercial and financial centre. More than 80,000 companies have their headquarters in the city. The region occupies a leading position in the field of communications and IT technology. Initially, Lufthansa will only operate flights to Toronto in the summer under flight number LH 494. As with the flight from Frankfurt, the new daily service to Toronto will enable convenient connections to the hub of Lufthansa's Star Alliance partner, Air Canada. The Airbus A330-300 that will serve this route will be fitted out with the new First and Business Class seats, providing Lufthansa passengers with the highest levels of in-flight comfort.
