LG Electronics (LG) plans to unveil new functionality in its line-up of home appliances at CES 2017, a global consumer electronics and consumer technology trade show that takes place every January in Las Vegas, Nevada. The company said LG's deep learning would allow home appliances to better understand their users by gathering and studying customers' lifestyle patterns. In LG's smart refrigerator, the technology analyses usage and eating patterns, and performs a variety of tasks by predicting the family's activities based on their past behaviour, such as automatically filling the ice tray at the time of the day when cold drinks are most in demand. LG's smart air conditioner equipped with LG's deep learning technology analyses the daily behaviour patterns of its homeowners, including the parts of the home most occupied at certain times throughout the day. The new technology also helps LG's washing machine learn about the local environment and the user's everyday activities in order to provide optimal washing performance.
