LG Electronics Inc. plans to launch an organic light-emitting diode (OLED) TV in the UAE in the last quarter of 2012. OLED TV features a high quality picture and design and are more energy efficient, thinner than an iPad and provide better black-levels used in televisions, but more expensive to produce than LED backlighting. OLEDs potentially blend the benefits of both display types; they put out more light than plasma so they look better in a well-lit room, and they are faster than LCD so there is no ghosting. And their blacks are true black. LG has decided to feature a 55-inch display panel for its first OLED TV due to increasing demand for large-screen TVs. OLED TVs in the 40-inch range will also be launched later on. Their launch dates will be determined by market developments. LG launched 2012 Cinema 3D Smart TV line-up for 2012. The firm is launching four sizes (42, 47, 55 and 60 inches) with prices ranging between AED 4,999 and AED 14,999.
