On the occasion of its business update, InterContinental Hotels claims worldwide RevPAR (revenue per available room) growth of 2.6% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2024, driven by an 8.9% jump in the EMEAA region.

"Global occupancy rose to 62% and the average daily rate increased by a further 2%, with prices remaining robust, reflecting the full return of leisure, business and group travel," says Elie Maalouf, the hotel chain's CEO.

We opened over 6,200 rooms in 46 hotels during the quarter, and signed for nearly 18,000 rooms in 129 properties, increasing our pipeline by 6.6% year-on-year', he continues.
