9:56 ET -- Exxon Mobil Corp. is one of the most mentioned companies in the U.S. across all news items in the last 12 hours, according to Factiva data. The largest U.S. oil company rose to its highest-ever annual profit last year after turning in record annual earnings of $55.7 billion for 2022 in its fourth-quarter earnings report Tuesday. For the fourth quarter, Exxon Mobil posted net income of $12.75 billion, or $3.09 a share, up from $8.87 billion, or $2.08 a share, in the year-earlier period. Fourth-quarter adjusted per-share earnings came to $3.40 a share, ahead of the $3.29 a share expected from analysts polled by FactSet.
