Costco plans to stop selling books all year and will instead limit sales to the holiday sales season.

The change goes into effect at the start of 2025, according to a New York Times report.

The decision is being made given the labor-intensive inventory work needed to maintain the book section within the wholesaler's stores.

It will have a big impact for authors and publishers, according to the Times report. Costco had not responded to a request for comment from the Times as of publishing the news.
