Bombardier announced Monday that it intends to "vigorously" contest a class action suit authorized by the Quebec Superior Court.

The Canadian aircraft manufacturer intends to vigorously defend itself against the class action for damages brought against it by the plaintiff, Denis Gauthier, under Quebec's Securities Act.

In a press release, Bombardier and the defendants say they deny any wrongdoing, leading the group to currently review the authorization decision and assess its options, including the possibility of an appeal.

This case originated in February 2019, when the plaintiff requested authorization to launch a class action before the Quebec Superior Court against Bombardier and certain of its former executives, including Alain Bellemare.

According to the plaintiff, Bombardier and the defendants made false and misleading representations, notably when presenting forecasts for fiscal 2018.

The plaintiff was thus authorized to represent 'any person or entity who acquired or purchased Bombardier securities during the period beginning August 2, 2018 and ending November 8, 2018, and who held such securities until November 8, 2018'.
