BERLIN (dpa-AFX) - Since midnight, dealers and manufacturers have had to use a reformed car label with specific fuel consumption and emission data when selling new cars. The information should be closer to reality than before. According to the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the label must be affixed directly to the car on display by the seller. If the new car is ordered via the Internet, the content must be indicated accordingly.

The regulation on the information label is part of an amendment to energy consumption labeling for passenger cars, which came into force in February. However, manufacturers and dealers do not have to implement the requirements of the reformed car label until May 1st. According to the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the aim of the amendment is to significantly improve consumer information and add important details./asn/DP/zb
