Amazon will spend 1.2 billion euros ($1.29 billion) to boost its artificial intelligence presence and speed up deliveries in France.

The American e-commerce giant said Monday that it will invest the money to expand Amazon Web Services' cloud infrastructure in the Paris region, supporting the country's generative AI market. The investment will also fund logistics infrastructure in the Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes region to make deliveries faster and more sustainable.

Amazon's spend will create 3,000 permanent jobs in France, it said. The announcement came during the country's annual "Choose France" economic summit.
