Wizz Air, the largest low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe, and the largest low-cost airline in Ukraine, on the request of LTH-Baas, an international shipbuilding and ship repair contractor, has operated rescue flights from Germany to Ukraine returning home Ukrainians who have been stuck abroad due to COVID-19 pandemic.

The successful and safe completion of the mission to return 320 Ukrainians home required operating two flights on 26 March. The services, operated from Berlin Schonefeld International Airport to Boryspil International Airport, have repatriated Ukrainian citizens from the Wismar region in Germany. Numbers of those who were stranded far from their homes were great, thus, WIZZ repatriation flights have come as a response to the difficulties the COVID-19 pandemic has brought to passengers around Europe.

Paulina Gosk, Corporate Communications Manager at Wizz Air, said: 'Wizz Air is always committed to serving its passengers - in such a difficult time, particularly. It was an honour for us to help at returning home Ukrainians, who have found themselves in a difficult situation abroad due to the COVID-19 pandemic. These times are undoubtedly challenging for all of us, however Wizz Air stays true to its principle of passenger safety and comfort being the airline's utmost priority under any conditions.'

Anton Maljugin, LTH-Baas' COO, said: 'In the cruise shipbuilding industry, the ability to solve complex problems, to be flexible and to act ad hoc is the key to success. That's why it is crucial to have partners as an airline company Wizz Air and a travel agency Nautilus Travel who are capable to complete a mission in the most challenging circumstances.'
