WhiteHorse Finance, Inc. Forms Joint Venture with State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio

WhiteHorse Finance, Inc. announced that it has formed a joint venture with State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio to co-manage WHF STRS Ohio Senior Loan Fund LLC, investing primarily in lower middle market, senior secured debt facilities. The company and STRS Ohio have committed to provide up to USD 125 million of subordinated notes and equity to the joint venture, with the company providing up to USD 75 million and STRS Ohio providing up to USD 50 million. In addition, the joint venture intends to seek up to USD 250 million in third-party financing thereby providing WhiteHorse Finance up to USD 375 million in lending capacity.
WhiteHorse Finance, Inc. is an externally managed, non-diversified, closed-end management investment company. The Company's investment objective is to generate attractive risk-adjusted returns primarily by originating and investing in senior secured loans, including first lien and second lien facilities, to performing lower middle market companies across a broad range of industries. The Company is focused principally on originating senior secured loans to lower middle market companies. It also makes opportunistic investments at other levels of a companyâs capital structure, including mezzanine loans or equity interests, and in companies outside the United States based lower middle market.
