On January 31, 2023, The Walt Disney Company filed a preliminary proxy statement soliciting proxies and urged the shareholders to vote against a shareholder proposal, requesting that, beginning in 2023, the Company report annually to shareholders on the nature and extent to which corporate operations depend on, and are vulnerable to, Communist China, which is a serial human rights violator, a geopolitical threat, and an adversary to the United States, submitted by National Legal and Policy Center at the Company?s annual shareholders meeting.
