PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz., Jan. 10, 2014- A new Walmart will open Wednesday, Jan. 15, after a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony at 7:30 a.m. The new store at 3450 Glassford Hill Road is conveniently located at Glassford Hill Road and Lakeshore Drive and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It will provide Prescott Valley residents with one-stop shopping convenience for their grocery and general merchandise needs. The store also offers pharmacy services.

"As a business organization invested in the economic prosperity of our community we are excited to have Walmart open a store in Prescott Valley," said Prescott Valley Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Marnie Uhl. "In addition to the new retail offerings, the jobs being created and the overall economic impact, Walmart has proven to be a community supporter. We look forward to their presence in Prescott Valley and to the other retail and businesses that will open in the center creating a new retail hub that will complement the existing retail centers in our community."

One-Stop Shopping Convenience
The store features quality, value-priced general merchandise, including apparel, electronics, toys, sporting goods, and lawn and garden items. It also offers a full line of groceries, including organic and natural selections in addition to local favorites.

The pharmacy offers a full range of products and services. Pharmacy team members can answer product and prescription questions and customers can ask about health and wellness solutions.

Community Giving
At a reception the evening before the grand opening for the community as well as associates and their families, the store will present $8,000 in grants from Walmart and the Walmart Foundation to local community groups. Grant recipients include CASA Senior Center, Humboldt Unified School District, New Horizons Disability Empowerment Center, Project Friday and Stepping Stones Agencies.

In addition to the grants given as part of the grand opening, the new store will further Walmart's pledge to fight hunger in America. As part of Walmart's and the Walmart Foundation's $2 billion commitment to fight hunger through 2015, Walmart stores in Arizona donated approximately 10.3 million pounds of food, in fiscal year 2013, or the equivalent of 8.6 million meals. Additionally, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation gave more than $20.5 million in fiscal year 2013 in Arizona alone. New Store, New Jobs

The new store employs approximately 300 full- and part-time associates. Store manager Kevin Ray began his Walmart career in 1994 as an hourly seasonal associate.

"I am looking forward to showing the residents of Prescott Valley the new store and all it has to offer our shoppers," Ray said. "We would like to invite the community to join us Wednesday, Jan. 15, for the grand-opening celebration and throughout the week to shop and enjoy the many vendors and giveaways taking place."

A Big Family Welcome

Walmart is happy to be part of the Prescott Valley community and is ready to celebrate with residents on Saturday, Jan. 18. A Big Family Welcome will give customers a chance to meet Ray and enjoy fun family activities such as face painting, cupcake decorating and free food samples while supplies last.
