Vontobel strengthens Private Banking team in Germany

Hamburg wealth management expert Marcus Engelhorn joins Vontobel Private Banking

The wealth management expert Marcus Engelhorn joined Vontobel at the start of 2017 as part

of the expansion of its Private Banking team in Northern Germany. Engelhorn was previously a Director at Bethmann Bank AG and was based in Hamburg, where he advised wealthy clients in Northern Germany until the end of 2016. Prior to that, he built up the private banking business of LGT Bank in the Hamburg region. This business was acquired by Bethmann Bank - part of ABN Amro Group - in 2012.

"We are delighted that Marcus Engelhorn, who is a proven private banking expert, has agreed to join Vontobel. With his many years of experience and his strong regional roots, he will ideally strengthen our team. Vontobel will continue its growth in Germany in 2017 and will increase the size of its advisory teams in Munich, Frankfurt and Hamburg. In this context, we will benefit from the fact that Vontobel's individual wealth management approach, which captures income opportunities even in difficult periods, is well suited to the present time and is attracting increased demand from clients in Germany," stated Thomas Fischer, Head of Private Banking at Bank Vontobel Europe AG.

The Vontobel Private Banking team in Germany has regularly received awards in recognition of its advisory offering in recent years and currently comprises around 20 relationship managers.
