Euro reported that PPF Group N.V. is planning to acquire Telefónica Czech Republic AS but so far PPF's attempts have failed due to the price offered. Reuters said that a PPF spokesman and spokesman for Telefonica Czech Republic declined to comment on the matter. Radek Stavel, spokesman for PPF said, "We do not comment on market speculation." It is believed that the price for Telefonica Czech Republic could be around CZK 100 billion.

For the acquisition, PPF can use the CZK 110 billion raised from the sale of Ceska pojistovna shares to Italyls Generali, according to the Euro. Euro reported that PPF was also looking at other dominant Czech operators T-Mobile International UK Ltd. and Vodafone Group Public Limited Company.
