Macerich — a retail and mixed-use property developer, owner and operator — has announced it is launching the first U.S. flagship location for Arte Museum — a media art exhibition museum produced by Korea-based d'strict — at Santa Monica Place, California, according to a press release.

Replacing an ArcLight Cinemas location, the museum is planned for launch in late 2023. Mixed- and digital-media exhibits from d'strict have historically included 4D art, holograms, 360-degree interactive theater and kinetic sculpture.

"The immersive, experience-driven Arte Museum is an excellent fit for Santa Monica Place and provides a terrific example of how Macerich consistently works to evolve the retail, dining and entertainment offerings in each of our markets to match consumer preferences," Cory Scott, EVP of asset management for Macerich, said in the release.

Another Arte Museum location is planned to launch in Las Vegas in early 2023.
