Conifer Health Solutions, the nation’s leading provider of technology-enabled healthcare performance improvement services, today announced a 10-year extension and expansion of its current agreement with Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) to provide Patient Access, Revenue Integrity and Patient Financial Services to 76 CHI hospitals. CHI also will increase its minority ownership position in Conifer.

The partnership with Conifer allows CHI to access their expertise in revenue cycle operations and technologies without the cost of building those capabilities internally. Conifer and CHI formed a partnership in May 2012 under which Conifer would provide revenue cycle services for 56 of CHI’s hospitals. This extends the scope of the work to an additional 20 facilities.

“Conifer is proud to be in partnership with CHI,” said Stephen M. Mooney, president and CEO of Conifer Health Solutions. “This contract extension affirms the mutual, long-term commitment of both organizations to each other and recognizes the value that Conifer’s industry-leading capabilities bring to innovative systems like CHI. In the past two years, CHI and Conifer have generated significant benefits and many emerging opportunities remain for us to make healthcare work better for every stakeholder in the system.”

“Catholic Health Initiatives entered into the partnership with Conifer to tap into its expertise in revenue cycle operations as CHI takes innovative steps to meet the challenges of the changing healthcare landscape. This new extension will allow CHI's cost for revenue cycle services to remain in the best-of-class category,” said Dean Swindle, president of Enterprise Business Lines and chief financial officer for Catholic Health Initiatives. “We will continue to evaluate additional opportunities that have the potential to create value for the people and communities served by CHI.”
