John Shiver, AIA, NCARB,has joined Stantec as a principal architect in the firm's Plano, Texas, office, where he will focus on client service, client engagement, design, and contributing to thought leadership on education. Shiver brings 27 years of experience providing architectural services for the planning, design, and construction of a variety of projects and is a licensed architect in the State of Texas. As a principal, he will also provide mentoring and coaching opportunities to grow leadership within the firm and elevate the practice of architecture.

Shiver earned his Master of Architecture from Texas A&M University, focused on design theory and application. His background includes a concentration in K-12 and higher education design, specializing in client development, educational programming, bond planning/capital improvement planning, design, construction administration, and project operations. He is certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) and is an active member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the Texas Society of Architects (TSA), and Architecture for Learning Environments (A4LE).

A thought leader in educational architecture, Shiver has given seminars on programming, planning, and designing Next Generation learning environments as well as a school construction series featuring topics such as bond planning, sustainability, and school safety. His education industry knowledge, leadership skills, and ability to deliver high quality architectural solutions will enhance Stantec's Buildings practice in the firm's South Central region.
