Seoul, Jul 10 (EFE).- The largest union at Samsung Electronics announced an "indefinite general strike" on Wednesday due to a lack of progress in talks on better working conditions with the tech giant.

The National Samsung Electronics Union (NSEU) announced that it will go an indefinite strike from noon.

The union had already called a three-day strike on Monday - the largest in the company's 55-year history - and warned that it would stage another five-day walkout from July 15 if no progress was made this week.

The call for an indefinite general strike seems to indicate that there has been no agreement between workers and management.

The three-day strike by NSEU, which has 28,000 members, just over 20 percent of the tech company's workforce, was aimed at disrupting production.

However, the police estimated that around 3,000 workers joined the protests on Monday in front of the Hwaseong plant, one of the biggest of the chipmaking giant, which has said that the strike did not cause any disruptions in its production this week.

The union, which also called a strike on June 7 - the first in the company's history -, is asking for one more holiday in the work calendar for all employees and significant wage hikes. EFE
