Renesas Electronics, a premier provider of advanced semiconductor solutions, today announced that the R-Car V2H image recognition system-on-a-chip was selected as a winner of Electronic Products’ prestigious Product of the Year Award.

The R-Car V2H SoC implements Renesas’ state-of-the-art image recognition technology to support high-resolution surround viewing in advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) systems with multiple cameras for advanced point-of-view switching. The SoC provides a smart, 1,280 X 720 surround monitoring system and stiches all images into one to create a 3D visual.

The single-chip SoC is rated for 7,000 DMIPS based on a Cortex-A15 dual-core CPU and adds six Image Rendering (IMR) hardware accelerator channels for viewpoint conversion and an image processing (IMP-X4) accelerator for real-time image recognition. Designed to balance the performance and power consumption required for these systems, the single-chip SoC design addresses memory bandwidth usage and overall latency to support higher processing performance. These differentiators represent the innovation and expertise that Renesas brings to automotive electronics design.

For nearly 30 years, the Electronic Products Award Program has recognized significant advancements in a technology or its application with innovative designs. This year, Product of the Year Awards were given in over 20 categories. For more information about Electronic Products’ Product of the Year Awards, visit www.electronicproducts.com.
