QuickLogic Corporation announced that Cleer Inc. selected the company's EOS™ S3 multi-core voice enabled System on a Chip (SoC) for its EDGE Voice wireless headphone product, a 2018 CES Innovation Awards honoree. The EDGE Voice headphone enables users to connect to Amazon's Alexa voice services via Bluetooth technology to make calls, stream audio, order products, or check schedules and set reminders. As a bonus feature, it also includes built-in heart-rate monitoring. Adding voice control capability has become a significant trend for consumer electronics over the last year. For this product, QuickLogic's EOS S3 Sensor Processing Platform was chosen specifically to provide always-on trigger word recognition and voice control. These features are enabled by the hardware integration of the Sensory Inc. Low Power Sound Detection (LPSD) technology in the EOS S3 SoC. Because the QuickLogic solution is hardware-based, it can provide always-on voice recognition and control at substantially lower levels of power consumption than MCU-based devices. Cleer also selected the EOS S3 because of the company's reputation of providing excellent technical support. The EOS S3 Sensor Processing Platform from QuickLogic and the EDGE Voice headphones were both on display at the 2018 CES Show in Las Vegas. EOS S3 is available now, and the EDGE Voice headphones will be shipping in 2nd half of 2018.
