Papa John's International scored 90% in a major survey of LGBTQ workplace equality corporate policies and practices known as the Corporate Equality Index or CEI. In fact, the brand said in a news release about the achievement that it is not only its first year ranking on the survey, but that the chain also scored higher than its pizza competitors.

"One of Papa John's core values is 'everyone belongs,'" Marvin Boakye, Papa John's chief people and diversity officer, said in the release. "We are focused on creating a culture where all team members feel they can be their authentic selves at work. Our Corporate Equality Index score is just one example of our company putting its commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion into practice and being recognized for the strong culture we are creating."

The results of the survey highlight strides made by more than 1,000 U.S.-based companies in promoting LGBTQ-friendly workplace policies in the U.S. and working for LGBTQ inclusion in workplaces abroad. The CEI rates companies on their non-discrimination policies, employment benefits, responsible citizenship and organizational competency and accountability around LGBTQ diversity and inclusion, the release said.
