Nokia announced on Tuesday that it has won a contract from Deutsche Glasfaser to build a new fiber optic network in Germany.

The Finnish equipment supplier says it will supply its products for access, IP routing, optical network and PON cable infrastructures as part of the project, which will replace the existing installations of two competitors.

Deutsche Glasfaser, one of Germany's leading independent fiber service providers, intends to triple its installed base of two million customers, thanks to a seven-billion-euro investment package allocated to it by its owners EQT and Omers.

The operator, which is expanding at a brisk pace via organic growth, also plans to modernize its network architectures and operations.

In a press release, Nokia points out that it has been supplying Deutsche Glasfaser with fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) access equipment since 2017.

Despite this announcement, Nokia's shares were down 0.7% on Tuesday morning on the Paris Bourse.
