A lot changes in 25 years and for one New Acland worker many of those changes have been for the better.

Wash plant maintainer William Besgrove has been inducted into the New Hope '25 Year Club' and believes improvements in safety have been the biggest change he has seen.

'When you work in a mine you know it is a dangerous environment and in the past you just accepted the fact,' William said.

'But now we know it doesn't have to be dangerous and New Hope has really put a lot of effort into making sure we all get home safely.'

William started his career at New Hope as a fitter and turner, working at virtually all of New Hope's sites over the past 25 years.

'I worked at Swanbank, helped set up New Hill and was here for the start of New Acland just to name a few,' William said.

'The best part of the job has been the variety of work and funny and interesting people I have had the great opportunity to work with.'

William is one of five New Hope employees to be inducted to the '25 Year Club' in 2016, joining David Fox and Shane Kopelke from West Moreton and Gene Wood and Lyndsay Bamberry from Queensland Bulk Handling, taking the total number in the club to 45.

New Hope introduced the '25 Year Club' in 2012 to recognise its longest serving employees, with many of the current 45 members working for New Hope upwards of 30 years.

New Hope Managing Director, Shane Stephan said the company continually invests in developing people to ensure the company has a highly skilled workforce.

'We want to provide a career, not just a job and the fact we have 45 employees who have been with the company for 25 years or more speaks volumes about the culture we have developed,' Mr Stephan said.

'New Hope is committed to providing a safe and healthy work environment with the core objective that our people go home at the end of the day unharmed.

'I believe this commitment, along with the environment we have created, is why our employees are so loyal to the company.'
