WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) _ Navient Corp. (NAVI) on Tuesday reported a fourth-quarter loss of $11 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.

The Wilmington, Delaware-based company said it had a loss of 7 cents per share. Losses, adjusted for non-recurring gains, came to 43 cents per share.

The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 85 cents per share.

The student loan servicing company posted revenue of $801 million in the period. Its adjusted revenue was $314 million, beating Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $287.7 million.

For the year, the company reported profit of $717 million, or $4.18 per share. Revenue was reported as $1.26 billion.
