National Breweries Plc will in 2013 invest a whopping K 132,000 ($24 million) in building a high-tech opaque brewery in Lusaka. The new brewery will be built at the same site where the old Lusaka brewery is currently situated along Sheki Sheki Road in the Emmasdale Area. The new 2.1m hectolitre plant will see a complete overhaul of the old plant, which has stood the test of time having been built in the early 1960s.

Aside from up-skilling the current staff, a few local highly technically-specialised individuals are expected to be employed before the completion of the plant, which will, for the first time, house a staff canteen for all employees. Additional features that employees should look forward to are a brand new canteen, change room with lockers and a well-designed clinic. The project for the new Lusaka Brewery is expected to be completed by end of June 2014.
