New York-based Nathan's Famous Inc., has signed a licensing, manufacturing and distribution agreement with Mezzan Holding KSC to make and distribute Halal products from the restaurant throughout the Middle East, according to a news release. Halal products are made according to Muslim law.

"We believe our partnership with Mezzan provides a wealth of advantages for the Nathan's Famous brand in and around the Gulf region, from growth opportunity to the ability to provide quality Halal product to our fans in the region," James Walker, Nathan's Famous senior vice president, restaurants, said in the release. "Through its storied history, Mezzan has worked with some of the world's best-known consumer manufacturers to bring their products to the GCC (the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, including Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates), and we're thrilled to add Nathan's to the distinguished list of brands and expand our reach throughout the UAE and beyond."

Mezzan Holding KSC subsidiary, Khazan Meat Factory, will produce a five-piece pack and eight-piece pack of hot dogs for both retail & food service vendors in the region. The company also has expansive distribution capabilities through its subsidiaries to restaurants and groceries. Nathan's Famous leadership said they believe the partnership puts the chain on a fast track for growth in the Gulf Region.

"This partnership will allow Middle East consumers to enjoy the flavor of New York locally, Lindsay Wakefield, Mezzan Holding commercial director said in the news release. " Mezzan's expertise in the region will ensure the hot dog range available locally is 100% Halal to suit our local consumer needs."

Nathan's is a Russell 2000 Company that distributes its products in 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, and 11 foreign countries through its restaurant system, foodservice sales programs and product licensing activities. It has nearly 200 restaurants globally.
