At Mercedes-Benz, the planned sale of 80 branches continues to cause unrest.

A total of 25,000 employees took part in a nationwide day of action, IG Metall explained on Tuesday. Production was halted at the Sindelfingen and Stuttgart-Untertürkheim sites for the duration of the demonstration. Head of the Works Council Ergun Lümali emphasized that the employee representatives did not support the unilateral decision of the Board of Management in any way. The task now is to secure the rights and safeguards of the approximately 8,000 employees affected in the ongoing negotiations with the company. "They fear a significant deterioration in working conditions with the uncertain acquirers," explained the union.
