Mercedes-Benz completes 2011 with a double record of best
month and best year ever in China
Record December sales of 23,230 units capped another
record year of 198,520 vehicles sold, marking a strong
finish to 2011, with sustained growth of 35%
year-on-year.
The flagship S-Class surged ahead with the best-ever
one-month sales in China with 3,700 luxury sedans sold to
new customers in December, pushing total 2011 sales to
31,050 units.
The locally produced E-Class and C-Class achieved
outstanding sales performance in December, posting a
combined year-on-year sales growth rate of 50% in
2011.
The SUV family continued to impress with sales of 54,335
units in 2011, with growth of 85% year-on-year.
Sales of Mercedes-Benz, smart, Maybach and AMG posted another
record month in December of 23,230 units (+30%) to bring the
record year to a successful close with sales of 198,520
vehicles for 2011, a 35% increase over last year.
"The record year of 2011 finished on a very strong note as we
also attained our best ever month with record sales in
December," remarked Klaus Maier, President & CEO of
Mercedes-Benz (China) Ltd. "This double achievement shows
that we are sustaining our growth rate, which gives us great
confidence as we head into 2012. We will continue to build on
this success by providing "The best or nothing" in
fascinating new models and premium services to our valued
Chinese customers."
The flagship S-Class, bringing the ultimate in luxury to the
Chinese consumer, ended the year with total sales of 31,050
units, aided by best-ever monthly sales of 3,700 units in
December.
The locally produced E-Class and C-Class in December both set
their best month sales in 2011.
With growth of 85% for 2011, the SUV family provides a new
lifestyle that was appreciated by 54,335 new customers for
the year. The GLK compact SUV and M-Class model proved
particularly popular, almost doubling their sales over last
year, with 2011 sales of 23,805 units and 15,860 units
respectively.
