For Immediate Release January 10, 2014 Complete Critical Illness Protection with Value-added Health Services Manulife-Sinochem Introduces "Chang Bao An Kang Long-term Health Insurance"

Shanghai, China-Manulife-Sinochem Life Insurance Co., Ltd. (MSL) has recently launched a new critical illness product, the Chang Bao An Kang Long-term Health Insurance. This product not only offers increasing benefits for up to three instances of critical illness but also provides access to professional health consultation services. This product is Manulife-Sinochem's first product priced with an assumed interest rate higher than 2.5% following regulatory changes for interest rate liberalization.

In recent years, incidences of critical illness are becoming increasingly common and are occurring at lower ages. Luckily, there have also been great advances in medical technology and recovery rates have been increasing. It is people who have recovered from critical illness that understand the value of insurance protection. However, due to their past medical history, they also face difficulties in getting approval for additional health coverage. There is need for products that can provide coverage for multiple incidences.

Today's fast paced life has also brought forth unhealthy yet sometimes unavoidable living conditions such as pollution, stress, and highly processed food that can cause illnesses that are not necessarily life threatening but can still have serious effects on people's well-being. There is also a need for insurance plans can provide services not only for critical diseases but for non-critical illnesses as well.

Manulife-Sinochem's Chang Bao An Kang provides coverage for 40 critical illnesses, divided into four categories, and up to three total claims (each in a different category) with increasing benefits for each claim. Customers may receive up to 330% of the total sum assured, and moreover, after the first claim is made all future premiums will be waived. Chang Bao An Kang also provides coverage for 10 additional "non-critical" illnesses such as initial-stage malignant tumors and lesions, mild strokes, and cardiac pacemaker insertions. If the customer has an incidence of any of these 10 "non-critical" illnesses before the age of 70, MSL will provide an additional benefit of 20% of the sum assured.

The product also provides two free value-added health services: a telephone medical consultation service from a health risk management professional will help guide the insured and their families through different types of health difficulties and provide advice on disease prevention and improving their health and well-being. Another value-added service provided is the "second diagnosis opinion". When a customer believes there may be a need to review their initial critical illness diagnosis or treatment, the product provides access to a professional national medical service to confirm the earlier diagnosis and treatment. Lastly, in order to provide even more complete protection and benefits, Chang Bao An Kang has an end of life benefit for customers that did not claim for critical illness at the time of passing.

Guy Mills, President of Manulife-Sinochem, stated: "Manulife-Sinochem is committed to providing professional and reliable products and services to offer real value to our customers. We have designed this product based on thorough research and deep market understanding of the national health insurance landscape and the evolving needs of consumers.
