(Alliance News) - LSL Property Services PLC on Tuesday said it has appointed David Barral as chair designate, being appointed as an independent non-executive director before standing for election as chair at the company's upcoming annual general meeting.

The Newcastle-based estate agency announced this as current Chair Bill Shannon will retire from the board at the end of the AGM, which is expected to be in May, as previously announced in late February.

It said Barral brings "significant" financial services experience, which is "at the heart of the group's growth strategy". This includes hold a number of senior positions at Aviva PLC, including as chief executive officer of Aviva UK & Ireland, while he is currently non-executive chair at Curtis Banks.

"I'm delighted that David is to join the board as chair. I know from our discussions to date that he recognises just how well positioned we are to grow, and I look forward to working with him to help deliver our exciting plans," said LSL Property Services CEO David Stewart.

Shares in LSL Property Services were quoted at 268.00 pence each, having not traded in London on Tuesday early afternoon.
