This morning Sainsbury's launched a brand new store on Commercial Road in Portsmouth. The new convenience store will offer customers fresh and high quality food alongside a variety of other products from 7am to 11pm Monday through to Sunday.

Sainsbury's Portsmouth Commercial Road Local is conveniently located near the city centre bus hub and Southsea train station. It is also situated beneath university accommodation and will offer students and city visitors convenience and choice. Customers can also grab a hot coffee and freshly baked goods alongside their shop with the inclusion of a Costa coffee machine and an in-store bakery.

The Sainsbury's colleagues will play an active role in the local community and support Sainsbury's nationwide community programmes and charity partners. This month Sainsbury's also announced an additional £1 million community fund for stores to donate to charities and other good causes in their local areas. This follows Sainsbury's 'Help Brighten a Million Christmases' campaign that raised £6 million in December for over 800 local charity partners, including Portsmouth Food Bank, Pompey in the Community, Trash Café Network and The Life House.

Patrick Dunne, Sainsbury's Property Director said: 'We're committed to ensuring our stores are in the right format and locations to serve the local community. This modern Sainsbury's Local store will give our customers access to fresh and convenient food, quick and easy meals, pantry essentials and household essentials from early in the morning to late in the evenings, every day of the week.'

James Drury, Portsmouth Commercial Road Local Store Manager said: 'The team and I are excited to welcome and serve customers in our brand new store, which will give local students and city visitors a convenient and safe place to do their shopping.'
