YouGov has acquired GfK's consumer panel services business for 315 million euros. The acquisition of CPS GfK is part of the company's long-term growth strategy.

CPS GfK brings together panels from 18 European countries that provide data from more than 100,000 households and 18 million store visits. YouGov will offer CPS GfK's existing 1,100 customers access to a "continuously updated source of consumer insights.

For its part, French market researcher Ipsos is buying its Dutch industry peer I&O Research. Founded in 1996, I&O Research conducts multiple market surveys across multiple sectors, including online commerce.

After the acquisition, the new company will continue under the name Ipsos I&O.

In the press release, Ben Page, CEO of Ipsos, responded enthusiastically to the merger of Ipsos Netherlands and I&O Research: 'Public sector research is one of Ipsos' core areas of expertise. This acquisition is an important step in line with our strategy to further strengthen our presence in the public sector. It increases our clout in the Netherlands, making us one of the most important players in the market there.'
