COPENHAGEN, June 27 (Reuters) - Norway's Vaar Energi has made a small discovery of oil and gas just north of the Duva field in the North Sea, the Norwegian Offshore Directorate said on Thursday.

Preliminary estimates indicated a discovery of between 3.9 million and 6.2 million standard cubic metres of recoverable oil equivalent, corresponding to between 18 million and 39 million barrels of oil equivalent, the directorate said.

Vaar Energi is the operator of the Duva field and owns 30% of the licence while INPEX Idemitsu holds 30%, PGNiG Upstream 30% and Sval Energi holds the remaining 10%. (Reporting by Louise Breusch Rasmussen, editing by Terje Solsvik)
