IBM VS LZLABS IBM's High Court 28-day trail against Lzlabs is due to start today. IBM argues that since 2013 when it licensed its mainframe software to Lzlabs subsidiary Winsopia, the company reverse-engineered the IBM system to create its own product. IBM alleges that Lzlabs software enables customers to take applications developed for IBM mainframe computers and run them without the need for source code change. Zurich-headquartered Lzlabs denies the claims. There is a parallel litigation taking place in Texas.

P&ID VS NIGERIA On Tuesday at the Court of Appeal, Process and Industrial Developments (P&ID) is seeking to overturn part of a ruling against the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The much anticipated case started over a gas supply and processing agreement between the parties. Last year, a High Court judge court set aside an $11bn arbitration award against Nigeria on the ground that it was obtained by fraud. In doing this, he awarded Nigeria its costs of the proceedings (said to be over £40m). P&ID appeal relates to those costs that were awarded.

CROXALL VS THE BBC Newsreader and BBC journalist Martine Croxall is taking the British broadcaster to the Employment Tribunal in London, and the case is due to be heard on Wednesday. The 55-year-old started her career at the BBC in 1991 and worked her way up to becoming one of the main news presenters. However, she lost her job at the Beeb ealier this year alongside other presenters as part of a merger of the BBC's News and World News channels. According to reports, she is taking the broadcaster to the Tribunal for alleged age and gender discrimination.
