Hotel Telemarketing "Robocalls"

May 05, 2015

The Hotel Association of Canada, representing the more than 8,500 hotels, motels and resorts across the country, has recently become aware of a fraudulent, organized campaign of telemarketing "robocalls" that appears to target guests who have stayed at hotels in Canada. The call recipients are asked to provide personal information, including credit card details, to receive a free night's stay.

The Hotel Association of Canada wants to make it clear that these calls are not originating from any hotel and have no validity. If anyone receives such a call, they should not provide any sensitive or personal information and hang up.

The hotel industry takes information security very seriously and has notified the regulating authority, the Canadian Radio-television Telecommunications Commission (CRTC), who is investigating further.http://www.crtc.gc.ca/eng/info_sht/g9.htm.
